**今天学什么**

昨天在邮局挑寄法，你已经在用 Express is faster 这样的比较级；今天把"两个比"和"一堆里挑"彻底分开。比较级只比两个，后面跟 than；最高级是三个以上里挑第一，前面必须加 the。四个目标形式先站稳——the cheapest、the nearest、the best、the most convenient，再做八组来回转换。学完你看到一句比较级，能立刻改成最高级，反过来也行，并录成八组转换音频。

四十五分钟里，第 5 步专门盯一个字母组合：the。中文没有冠词，说"最便宜"就是三个字，英文少了 the 就永远是半句。回听时不要整体评价"说得好不好"，只数 the，数出来才改得动。

只剩三十分钟，第 2 步减到四句，但第 3 步的八组不能减，因为转换才是今天的产出；第 5 步也要留三分钟，否则错了也不知道错在哪。

这八个词要成对记：cheap 对 expensive，near 对 far，safe 对 dangerous，good 对 bad，crowded 单独一组。记的时候不只记原形，要把三个形态一起念出来：cheap—cheaper—cheapest，expensive—more expensive—the most expensive。只背原形，到了句子里还是要现场想，一想就卡。

convenient 是本周最长的词，四个音节，但它的比较级不加 -er，只能加 more；这类词判断方法很简单：音节多到念起来已经很长，就别再加尾巴。good 和 bad 完全不按规则走，只能硬记：good—better—best，bad—worse—worst。

还有一类双音节词最麻烦：quiet 说 quieter，modern 却说 more modern，两种都有人用。零基础阶段不要纠结，先记牢今天这八个词的标准形式；遇到没把握的词就查一次词典，看它标的是 -er 还是 more，查过两三次自然有感觉。宁可查一次，也不要在柜台上临时猜。

## 三、发音/语法点

**最高级为什么必须带 the**

1. 比两个用比较级，结构是 A + is + 比较级 + than + B；比三个以上挑第一用最高级，结构是 A + is + the + 最高级 + in/of + 范围。
2. 单音节词加 -est：cheap→cheapest、near→nearest、safe→safest；以 e 结尾只加 -st：nice→nicest；重读闭音节末尾只有一个辅音字母时双写：big→biggest、hot→hottest。
3. 三音节及以上用 the most：the most convenient、the most expensive；双音节以 y 结尾的把 y 变 i 再加 est：easy→easiest、busy→busiest。
4. 不规则只记两组：good→better→best，bad→worse→worst；far 有两种，farther/further 都对，先用 farther。
5. 范围用 in 还是 of：in 接地点或团体，the cheapest in the shop；of 接复数，the best of the three。两个都记不住时，先说 in the shop，柜台场景够用。

常见错误三条：①漏 the，尤其句子开头就是 This is 的时候，the 被吞得最自然；②双写漏掉，biggest 写成 bigest，hotest 写成 hottest 的反面；③把 good 规则化成 gooder，这个错一出口对方会笑，但只要改一次就记住了。

如果一句话里既有比较又有范围，先说范围再说结论，听的人不容易乱：Of the three, this one is the cheapest. 这类句今天不要求写，听得懂、能跟着说一遍就够。

发音提示：cheapest 是 /ˈtʃiːpiːst/，两个长音 iː 之间有个轻 p，不要读成"切普斯特"；convenient 重音在第二音节 /kənˈviːniənt/，结尾的 t 很轻；expensive 重音也在第二音节 /ɪkˈspensɪv/；最高级前的 the 在辅音前读 /ðə/，不要每次都读成重读的 /ðiː/。

八组转换（先说左边，停一秒，再说右边）：

转换的关键不是背八句话，而是记住两个动作：比较级变最高级时，去掉 than 后面的对手，给形容词换形态，再在它前面放 the；最高级变比较级时反过来，去掉 the、换回比较形态，最后补一个 than that one。八个来回做完，手会比脑子先记住。

柜台小对话（挑最便宜的寄法）：

A: I want to send this parcel to Beijing. 我想把这个包裹寄到北京。
B: We have three ways: ordinary, registered, and express. 我们有三种：普通、挂号、快递。
A: Which is the cheapest? 哪种最便宜？
B: Ordinary mail is the cheapest, but it's slower. 普通邮件最便宜，但更慢。
A: And which is the fastest? 哪种最快？
B: Express is the fastest, but it's the most expensive. 快递最快，但最贵。
A: Then registered mail is the best for me. How long does it take? 那挂号最适合我。要多久？
B: About five days. It's the safest way, too. 大概五天。它也是最安全的方式。

这段对话把四个目标形式全用上了，最后一句还顺手做了 safety 的最高级。念的时候注意 the best for me 里的 for，中文"对我最合适"不能直译成 to me。
