总时长 60 分钟，与本周计划一致。三遍改稿的顺序是关键：先结构后句子再词。反过来做，你会把时间花在换同义词上，而段落可能根本立不住。第一遍改结构时不要动词，看见别扭的表达先忍着，记在边上。

第二遍拆句有个简单手法：一句话超过 22 个词，就找 but、because、which 三个信号词，在信号词前断开。断开后如果两句都成立，就保留；如果第二句不成立，说明它是修饰成分，不能断。

第三遍只换三处词。换词的标准不是「高级」，是「准确」。把 very important 换成 crucial 不算进步，把 a big problem 换成 a problem of trust 才算。

今天要用的是 finalise、polish、trim、rehearse、delivery 五个，全是操作词，正好对应你手上正在做的动作。concise、cohesive 用来判断稿子，articulate 用来判断录音，consistent 用来判断语速。

trim 的搭配很实用：trim twenty words、trim the ending。polish 不要用在整篇上，polish 暗示「表面打磨」，结构问题它解决不了。delivery 是名词，说 improve my delivery 比说 speak better 更准确。

**三个常见错误**

1. **用停顿换速度**。慢下来最省事的办法是多停，但停顿一多，听感就是不确定。正确做法是把词说完整，句子之间照旧只停半秒。
2. **只慢前三十秒**。开头记得慢，说到反驳就赶回去。重录时把整段分成四个 30 秒，每段单独核对语速。
3. **慢到失真**。放慢一成的参照是你的正常语速，不是播音腔。录完对比 Day 5 那版，时长多 8—12 秒是合适的，多 30 秒就是拖。

I am broadly in favour of the four-day week, though I would not call it a cure for everything.

The clearest benefit is time. An extra day gives people room for family, study or rest, and rested staff make fewer mistakes. In the trial I listened to, sick days fell by half while output rose slightly, and that combination is hard to argue with.

Admittedly, the model does not fit every job. Sales teams, hospitals and shops cannot simply close on Fridays, and squeezing five days into four can leave people exhausted by Thursday. That is a valid objection, and I would not dismiss it.
